And it’s all perfectly legal

Much has been written about the interpretation and application of laws.

Give “Les Miserables” another read. Understand the character of Javert. He interprets the law as it is written. A Lifetime hounding the hero over a loaf of bread for a starving child.

Go read about what happened when the framers of the voter initiative in Florida gave back to former felons their right to vote. The “republican” legislature of course interpreted the new law as written. As a result few former felons in Florida will be able to vote without risking another felony.

Go read the very real history of the efforts to preserve the institution of slavery in our country from its founding through it’s not inevitable end. Go read about the legal details of the suppression of the rights of former slaves and their descendants that persists to this very day and will continue.

This is what they mean folks. And they are mean. When owed, they will have their pound of flesh. And it will be all perfectly legal. When they owe, they’ll find a way to avoid paying by getting you to pay instead. All perfectly legal of course.

Their views, their strict, straightforward, narrow interpretations, even their much touted principles are perversions. Perversions, which in practice, preserve the engines of their wealth and power. Perversions that stand justice on her head.
